BALL PRESSURE - Safety when checking ball pressure:

Use your hand sanitizer after handling the ball. To moisten the needle you may want to use hand sanitizer rather than putting the needle in your mouth.

COIN TOSS

-There is no pre-match coin toss - Visiting team must serve

-There is a coin toss before a deciding set - Home team calls the toss

-Reminder teams do not switch sides, ever.

COIN TOSS - What do we say in the Pre-match meeting with NO coin toss?

You cover what you normally cover in the pre-match conference, you may just want to include a few references to the Covid-19 Rule Considerations. i.e. Bench spacing, ok to wear masks, including gaiter masks around the neck, visiting team serves, no switching sides. Remember this meeting takes place center court. only 1 captain and head coach from each team. Remember this is new to everyone, it's ok to say "we're all learning together".

COIN TOSS - Clarification of deciding set coin toss:

We will have a coin toss for a deciding set. The winner of the toss may choose to serve or receive. We will not be switching sides.

FLAGS - Do we use our flags?

If officials do not wish to share their flags with the linesmen, it is acceptable for the linesmen to use flags that might be provided by the school or they may use hand signals to perform their responsibilities.

MASK - Do we wear masks?

We will most likely be required to wear masks upon entry/exit to the gym. You are not required to while officiating. Do what makes you feel safest. If you wear a mask, it must be a solid color. Preferably black or white.

-GAITER FACE MASKS: It is permissible for officials to wear gaiter face masks. They must be a solid color.

NET - There should not be plastic sheeting on the net.

SWITCHING SIDES

Teams will never switch sides during COVID rules modifications.

TEMPERATURE - What do we do if we show up and when they take our temperature it is too high and they refuse entry?

It may be a good idea to get into the habit of checking your own temperature before you go. If you feel sick or have a fever, you need to contact Janiece immediately. If you are refused entry, then you need to make sure you communicate with your partner and contact Janiece. We will just have to be flexible and understand that this is a possibility. Please give yourself plenty of time to get through the temp checks and whatever other screening and still be court-side 30 mins before match time.

WHISTLE - Use of an electronic whistle:

This is not required, but you may use it if you wish. Practice beforehand to get used to it.
